The Princess

So, I haven't posted in a while. Sorry about that. But I have decided to post a picture to make up for it!

The Princess:

Photobucket

This is the Princess.
Conversion Breakdown:
Daemon Prince model
Greenstuff chest, horns, right hand and 'neck'
Defiler bit for the face, and the morning star flail pieces
Clear stick that is used for floating models, in this case used as the 'stick' to the morningstar/flail

Paint Breakdown:
Black primer

Armor:
Chaos Black, drybrushed Boltgun Metal, Leviathan Purple wash
Tin Bitz trim

Flesh:
Liche Purple

Face Details:
Scorpion Green mixed with a generic glow-in-the-dark paint component (Yes, it still glows. Yes, it is very creepy.)

Weapon:
Scorpion Green/Glow mix for the lines, overcoated with Chaos Black
Tin Bitz for the balls
Chaos Black drybrushed with Tin Bitz for the stick.

I've had a little difficulty keeping the weapon in her hand, so I decided to take some time to make a hole in her hand to keep the weapon in place. I'm not sure how much it helped though.

Fluff-wise, she still needs a name and an origin story, as does a lot of my army.

Vote for me!

I've been trying to put this widget so anyone who reads any post can see it and vote, but I just can't find anywhere the coding fits. So here it is.

I want more readers, because I like a lot of input, and if my models don't look that great, I want to know!

Anyway the big battle I mentioned last time ended up not happening, though I had a wonderful small (700-odd points per side) battle against my fiance. He won, but he was down to 6 guys of one formerly 10-man squad. I also learned the value of Lesser Daemons (in my case, the Daemonettes). The next day, the Princess also had a breakdown (again). My fiance put her back together, so she's fine now, but it's ridiculous how often she falls apart.

Now, the big battle is scheduled for tomorrow, and I've been working on some Havocs all day after I finished off my first squad of Berzerkers, and turned the girls into a 10-lady squad. I took some pictures of the Berzerkers pre-paint, but I don't think I should post them alongside the widget, so they will be later. Hopefully I will also be allowed to take pictures of the battle tomorrow. :D

EDIT: So, I guess the widget doesn't work, but I don't feel like revamping this whole post because it wasn't made right. (I didn't make it, it's from a website I like to buy stuff from.)

They Have a Name!

Yes, my girls now have a name. The Starcrossed Legion. It came to me somewhere between dreamland and awake-town and it just sounded right.

I haven't been posting due to lack of progress because of school. However, now I am out with my significant other, who is more into 40k than I am on my own.

We have made terrain (one building on the part of each of us), and I have finished painting the Princess. She's beautiful, but I don't have a picture yet due to my camera being packed away since said significant other doesn't like having his picture taken. I'm still working on the silly Daemonettes, and they're not cooperating so I might try some other things first.

For example, there might be some hand-sculpted "Not (quite) Safe For Work" models coming soon...They'll be covered in play if necessary though, of course. They'll be Berzerkers. :D

The significant other and friends might be playing Monday, and I'm supposed to have a playable army ready, so I might rush some quick models based on simple plans I already came up with.

Pictures will be next time, I promise. :)

Chaos (She) Space Marines! [After, Part 2]

So, in my infinite wisdom, I decided I would wait until AFTER my Christmas break to post the other two of the previously mentioned 4 that were painted. Thusly, I will post the partially done Aspiring Champion. (The Icon Bearer will be painted by my boyfriend, as originally planned, but I will have to mail it.) Also, there will be 4 shots of the complete She Marines!

Sadly, I don't remember what order they were painted in.

Therefore, first will come the one that doesn't have a nickname (Can someone help me with this?)

Front: [It makes sense to me to use a coat of a color underneath a drybrushing, because I would think some parts of it would be painted a color, and then some of the paint would've chipped off to show the metal underneath.]

Left Side: [I figured she should look where her gun is pointing.]

Right Side:

Next up is Samurai!

Right Side: [I feel like my camera shows every little flaw of my models....it makes me want to touch it up even though I can't see it in any light I have. My boyfriend says it makes it look better though, so I will leave it.]

And, the Aspiring Champion! Only two shots for this one, because she's not done.
Front: [I quite like how the ring came out, I'm glad I took the time to make it.]

Now, for those of you who are observant, you may have noticed something lurking in the background of these images...You will have to wait for her to make her first appearance...

Chaos (She) Space Marines! [After, Part 1]

Since I have some of them painted, here they are for your enjoyment. :D 4/6 are painted, with the Icon Bearer and Aspiring Champion still pending. (My boyfriend was supposed to paint the Icon Bearer at my request because he modeled her at my request.) Sadly, that will not be possible.

She doesn't have a nickname, nor has she been given a regular name. And her chestplate is flat because otherwise it would get in the way of the gun.
Photobucket

Sorry the back image is a little fuzzy.
Photobucket

This Front image is a little fuzzy, but it's "Mohawk"!
Photobucket

The back image is a little better, maybe.
Photobucket

They're pretty, aren't they? The colors used are Liche Purple, Scorpion Green, Dark Angels Green, and Tin Bitz for the metal stuff.

Chaos (She) Space Marines! [Before]

I only have green-stuff work on 4/6 of my first squad, as the other two have their chests blocked by large armaments. So I only have pictures of 4/6 of the squad prior to paint.

Here they are:

Nicknamed "Mohawk" for the time being, for obvious reasons:

Nicknamed "Samurai" for not as obvious reasons:

Icon Bearer:

Last, but not least, the Aspiring Champion:

The tiny ring on the Aspiring Champion's left breast was ridiculously difficult to make out of green stuff. However, on that chest plate there had been a ring in exactly the same place and I wanted to preserve that detail.

The Beginning

Since I first pondered getting into Warhammer 40,000 I wanted to make She Marines. And it seemed to me that the only way to do that without being asked to explain by every single person who saw them was to make them Chaos Marines.

I practiced my painting (and tested out paint schemes) on a box of Sisters, (I had originally intended to practice on a full army of Dark Eldar but with a pending [update?] I was out of luck.)

(Obviously the center one was not a successful combination if I want them to be Chaos Space Marines.)

After the experiments, I threw myself headfirst into my she-marines.
